Looking for Volunteers for Recruitment Events
Posted on February 14, 2013
In Student Services, we are always on the lookout for students who are willing to volunteer some of their time to help out with the various recruitment events that the faculty participates in. Queen’s runs many events throughout the school year to provide information and educate them prospective students about what we have to offer. You may have attended some of these events before you made your decision to come to Queen’s. The two largest events are Fall Preview and March Break Open House. The Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science holds an Open House during Fall Preview and March Break Open House events, where we conduct a number of activities – from tours of the ILC, tours of individual departments, demonstrations of research and clubs, as well as interaction with engineering students and faculty.
Upcoming Opportunities:
March Break Open House – March 11th and 12th from 12:00 – 4:30 pm
March Break Open House is coming up and we need volunteers. This event takes place over 2 afternoons on Monday, March 11th and Tuesday, March 12th from noon till 4:00 pm. We will need students to help greet guests, run tours of the ILC, help with setting up and tearing down displays, etc.
Please let Corrine Hoas Corrine.hoas@queensu.ca know if you are available to help out on any of these afternoons.
Admitted Student Day – Saturday, May 4th 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
One of the largest events that the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science holds is Admitted Student Day. This is a day for all students who have received an offer of admission from Queen’s to come to campus and have another look at the school, faculty and city of Kingston. This year Admitted Student Day will take place on Saturday, May 4th.
Please let Corrine Hoas Corrine.hoas@queensu.ca know if you are in Kingston on this date and would like to come help out.
ILC Tour GuideThrough the year, many prospective students come to campus and want to tour this building. We will ask our trained tour guides throughout the year who is available when these visits come up. Tours are usually 30 – 40 minutes in length, and an email is sent out to all tour guides to find out who might be available.
Training for tour guides is required. We have some different times for training:
Wednesday afternoons at 2:00 pm
Thursday afternoons at 1:30 pm
Friday mornings at 10:00 or afternoons at 2:00 (this day is pretty flexible if these times don’t work)
