May 3rd, 2012 marked a big day for Queen’s Formula SAE team, as sponsors, faculty and other supporters gathered for the first ever formal unveiling of a Formula car. The team, one of 14 design teams run by Queen’s Engineering students, was launched in1993.
Building and evaluating a section of new monorail test track in Kingston is providing a unique learning opportunity for Queen’s civil engineering students through collaborative research with Bombardier Transportation’s System Division in Kingston. “This project represents a significant step forward,” says structural engineering professor and Canada Research Chair Amir Fam. “It provides a unique opportunity for testing Queen’s technologies and designs in collaboration with a major industry leader.”
Several Queen’s projects including research into addiction, various types of cancer, and end-of-life decision-making have received nearly $10 million in funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).
