Dean's Research Fund recipients announced
The Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science has established the new Dean’s Research Fund of $750K and a competition was announced last fall. The fund is intended to be seed money expected to be leveraged at a larger scale using provincial or federal funding programs (e.g. ORF, CFI) to support competitive research projects that are both, collaborative and transformational. Twelve proposals totalling $1.74M and involving close to 50 faculty members were received in the recent competition. A Faculty Awards Committee with membership nominated by Department Heads and chaired by Amir Fam, Associate Dean (Research and Graduate Studies), was formed and assessed the proposals. The following six are the winning projects. Awards are provided for one year. Second year’s funding would be contingent upon review of progress and achievements at the end of first year.
