Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic), Alan Harrison, is pleased to announce that Dr. Michael Greenspan has been reappointed Head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering effective July 1, 2014.
Dr. Greenspan (PhD, Carleton) joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in August of 2001. Prior to Queen’s, Dr. Greenspan led the Computational Video Group at the National Research Council of Canada in Ottawa. Dr. Greenspan’s research investigates problems of computer vision and robotics, with a focus on the development of efficient and robust object recognition and tracking methods.
Dr. Greenspan has over 80 refereed publications, including 5 patents, and he has served on the technical and program committees of over 60 international conferences in the fields of computer vision and robotics. He holds membership in the Professional Engineers Ontario, the IEEE Computer Society, and the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society. He has been the recipient of the Premier’s Research Excellence Award, the Canadian Image Processing and Pattern Recognition Society Young Investigator’s Award, and a number of Favourite Professor Awards.
