Inspiring Greatness in the Gael’s Den

Posted on March 16, 2015

This past weekend Queen’s Young Engineering Alumni (QYEA) hosted the first annual Gael’s Den event in Toronto. Five design teams attended the event and pitched for over $20,000 worth of funding for the 2014-2015 academic year.  $10,000 of this funding was raised by QYEA, and Inspiring Alumnus Paul Goddard (MECH ’90) generously matched the fundraising total.

Each group pitched to a panel of seven Gaels, representing those members of the GPA Society who donated at the highest giving level. Impressive pitches came from the Formula SAE Team, Space Engineering Team, Aero Design Team, Baja SAE Design Team, and Solar Design Team. After the funding was allocated, the Queen’s Alumni took some time with the group members to discuss their pitches and to provide thoughts and advice for their team moving forward.
