In Conversation with Ubisoft animation programmer, Simon Clavet

Posted on October 28, 2019

Simon Clavet is an animation programmer with video game giant, Ubisoft. He has worked on some hugely popular games such as Splinter Cell, Assassin’s Creed, the Far Cry series, and For Honor. Game development is changing rapidly because of new motion capture/motion matching and artificial intelligence techniques. There’s a big demand in the game development industry for new graduates and interns with skills in coding and machine learning. Clavet says that about half of the 20-30 people who work in his unit are PhD students or others with technical backgrounds who are affiliated with various universities. He visited Queen’s earlier this year to participate in the AI/GI/CRV conference where he spoke with Queen’s engineering student, Dave Arquiza.
