Students in the Mechanical and Materials Engineering Section of APSC 200/293, a second-year Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science course, co-led by Associate Professor and Queen's Chair for Women in Engineering Heidi Ploeg, and Assistant Professor Roshni Rainbow, were tasked with a classic engineering design challenge, to design a structure that was both stiff yet porous. The application was a "Bone Scaffold for a 12 year old girl with Benign Chondroblastoma.”
