Graduate and Professional Programs

The Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Queen's University offers graduate programs and certificates, training and professional development in the following areas.

Research-Based Programs

Master of Applied Science (MASc)
These two-year programs provide students with an opportunity to work under the mentorship of a leading engineering researcher to develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills that are in high demand in today’s economy.

Doctoral (PhD)
The highest degree sought after by leading practitioners, researchers, and educators. The requirements for completion are four term courses beyond the master’s degree, a comprehensive examination and a successfully defended thesis.

Collaborative Programs
Collaborative programs involve more than one department for multidisciplinary research. Students must enrol in and meet the admission requirements of their home department.

Professional and Coursework

Master of Engineering (MEng)
The Master of Engineering (MEng) is a one-year, coursework-based program that is designed for engineering graduates who want to enhance their technical and professional skills to have a competitive edge in today’s job market.

Graduate Diploma (GDip)
A Graduate Diploma may be a stand-alone credential or it may be part of a laddered set of programs leading to a master's degree. Admission to a Queen's GDip program requires an undergraduate degree as a prerequisite.
