• Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering
  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering with Professional Internship

Civil engineering offers unique opportunities to shape society and the world we live in. Learn how to design, plan, and build the structures and systems of our built world while protecting the natural environment. With a strong focus on industry connections and developing professional skills, this program will prepare you to thrive in the dynamic and creative field of civil engineering.

What you’ll learn

Civil and environmental engineers work on large projects of an interdisciplinary nature. Our program covers the key areas of the civil and environmental engineering profession. These include:

  • The static and dynamic behaviour of structures and materials
  • How the natural environment affects infrastructure, as well as how human activities affect the environment
  • Elements of design and its philosophy

Build your industry and design experience

As a Civil Engineering student, you will learn to work in teams, communicate effectively, and uphold ethical standards of professional practice. We help you achieve your career goals by involving industry partners and giving you access to a large variety of national and international engineering companies.

You will begin your time in the Civil Engineering program with an intensive short course. This course challenges you to work as a team to conceive, design, implement, and operate a system with set goals and limitations.

Throughout the program, you will have opportunities to work in our unique lab facilities and complete design projects. We offer a fourth-year Capstone design project that allows students to solve design problems for industry partners.

Responding to the challenge

As the world around us changes, civil engineers are needed to develop innovative solutions. With opportunities to work on large-scale projects, and deep knowledge of sustainability, civil engineers are uniquely positioned to address the challenges of climate change. In this program, you will learn to apply a diverse set of skills to work on large-scale projects and solve complex problems facing modern society.

Admission and Application

The Civil Engineering Program is a discipline within our common core program. Apply to general engineering, and at the end of first year, you are guaranteed your program of choice.
